Combining Software and Hardware
At our recent bi-annual company meeting, Tom from our IS team updated us on the work he’s been doing on the upgraded relay test boxes. Over a chip shop lunch, we also received updates from each department which included two of our new starters telling us about the projects they’ve recently completed.
Tom has been working on the firmware and whilst he describes it as ‘challenging’ it will save time and improve efficiencies. Matt updated us on the design work he’s been doing, his ‘biggest board to date’, and Colin told us that he ‘thoroughly enjoyed’ a solo project he managed from start to finish.
Our software engineers have their own projects that they work on but they often work alongside our hardware engineers. The benefit of working with Like Technologies is not only our industry knowledge, but our in house hardware and software skills. Being quite literally next door to one another, the two teams are able to work together to come up with a solution in a time efficient manner, whilst being a single line of communication for our client.
The simulation project is another example of our software and hardware teams coming together to solve a problem. You can read about that by clicking here. This project is ongoing and demonstrates how new technology can work with older technology, and the need for hardware and software solutions – it’s often not one or the other. Collaboration is increasing in our industry and is something we support internally and externally.
